5 Best Beaches Near Newlands Holiday Park

If you're dreaming of lounging by the sea and missing holidays abroad, why not consider a UK staycation? Britain has world class beaches waiting for you to relax by the sea and get away from the hustle and bustle. Our holiday park in West Dorset is near some of the most inspiring coastal stretches in the country. Benefit from a location at Newlands close to the West Dorset and East Devon border, where you're free to enjoy some of the best beaches on the South coast.

Charmouth Beach

Charmouth beach is just 15 minutes walk from Newlands. This makes it the most easily reached beach from our park. You can be there in next to no time, breathing in the fresh, sea air.

Charmouth is most famous for its abundance of fossils. As a result, the area has become very popular with families searching for an ancient part of geology as the perfect keepsake from their Jurassic Coast holiday. This isn't the only reason families flock to the sand and shingle at these shores. At low tide, the beach is great for sea swimming and paddle boarding. There's also a lovely selection of picnic spots, café's and shops.

Charmouth has a wonderful atmosphere, and we're sure you'll love it as much as we do!

Lyme Regis Beach

Lyme Regis is a real gem of the South coast and offers a traditional seaside experience. Lyme Regis is a firm favourite for guests at our park and its family friendly fun rarely fails to disappoint.

The beach itself is made up of two parts. The iconic Cobb end of the beach is the more popular section, with golden sands and bustling café's and shops. The beach has a shingle stretch at the other end providing a quieter spot to sit and take in and watch the gentle waves rolling over the pebbles.

Lyme Regis has always been a popular destination for our guests. Under 4 miles away from Newlands, you'll be there in under 10 minutes!

West Bay

West Bay is one of our favourite Dorset beaches and has magnificent cliffs, and some of the most stunning scenery. The sweeping views from the clifftop take in Chesil Beach and Portland. As well as taking in the sights and sounds at the waters edge, you can wander around the pretty harbour and sample the local fish and chips. West Bay is the famous setting for the ITV drama, Broadchurch, and definitely one to tick off the bucket list.

Beer beach

Half an hour from Newlands you'll find the beautiful East Devon village of Beer. A short walk from the village is the secluded cove, with picturesque shingle beach and backdrop of rugged limestone cliffs. Visit beer beach for a highly relaxing and tranquil coastal experience. Top it off with a drink at one of the nearby pubs and cafés, and pick up some freshly caught fish.

Sidmouth Beach

Sidmouth Beach is a beautiful stretch of sand and shingle, set against stunning cliffs. This charming in East Devon location is affectionately referred to as the gateway to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.

Climb the wooden steps of Jacobs Ladder to get to Connaught Gardens. Form there, you'll be treated to memorable vcoastal views. This beach is great for families with young children, with sandy section and rock pools to explore.

'Excellent site with clean facilities, friendly staff!'

'Friendly staff, the staff in the shop was incredibly welcoming! Loved how we were escorted to our pitch and also offered help with putting the caravan on the pitch. Swimming pool was small but ideal, good sauna! Outdoor pool was lovely also! Facilities were spotless considering we had awful weather they work extremely hard! Very clean site, great value for money!'

"Definitely will be back"

Good location with Charmouth beach and lyme regis near. Nice facilities on site and nice rooms. The tow bar restaurant is a gem with great food. Liked the activities on our stay like bingo. Overall a good stay and would love to come back again.

"Everything we needed"

Very tidy site, well laid out and well equipped. Towbar restaurant offered a good selection of quality food at all meal times, very good value for money and super friendly service. There is a small shop on site for all your essentials with access to another slightly larger shop in the village. Two pools and children’s play areas plus a gaming room were a real bonus. Shower and toilet blocks were cleaned regularly and always kept in good order. Location is fantastic, especially for avid fossil hunters with Charmouth beach around 20 minutes easy walk away through the village.

"What a wonderful place"

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Newlands. We stayed in the studio apartment block down the end (A17). The apartment was incredibly clean, spacious and had everything we needed for a short stay. My twin sons (3.5 years old) had the twin room, mum had the double bed, and I stayed on a blow up mattress that I brought with. We were very comfy.
