Lyme Regis ArtsFest Starts This Weekend!
There is a packed schedule of events from 21st to 29th September, with exhibitions, music and hands-on workshops where you can learn new skills like stained glass, photography, and painting. Here are a few of our highlights:
Teddy Bear Making
This class is for anyone over the age of 9 years old, and will take you through the process of making a cuddly bear, from choosing the fabric to stuffing the inside and completing the final stitches. It’ll be great fun, and you get a lovely souvenir to take away with you.
The re:collection Exhibitions
In Lyme’s three Town Mill galleries, you can see the fruits of a years’ work by Artsfest. They have been collecting artworks by some 40 artists, all inspired by artefacts, images, and stories in the Lyme Regis Museum’s exhibits.
Many of the re:collection artists themselves will be holding informal sessions at the venues, so you can meet them in person and hear about the ideas and methods behind their works.
Stone Balancing Workshop
This is something totally unique to Lyme Regis Artsfest – the chance to try your hand at the meditative art of stone balancing. If you’ve seen any of world-renowned artist Adrian Gray’s work, you’ll know how absolutely mind-blowing it is, and so here is an opportunity to learn the secrets behind the art, and create your own beautiful sculpture from rocks balanced in gravity-defying shapes.
This workshop is free, and can be found at Marine Parade Shelters.

What's Next?
The Artsfest should be fantastic, and there'll be lots more events to get excited about before the end of the year - from the Walking Festival in Lyme Regis to the Spooktacular Halloween celebrations right here at Newlands Holiday Park. Stay tuned for more info on all this and more!
