Lyme Regis to Charmouth Challenge

The Lyme Regis to Charmouth Challenge is a 3.15 kilometre sea swim in beautiful open waters on the Jurassic Coast.

The sea swim starts at the sandy beach of Lyme Regis and finishes near our Charmouth holiday park.

Taking part

Participating swimmers are divided into sections depending on ability. Those who want to take on the challenge a bit faster set off first, leaving the not-so-competitive to swim behind at their leisure. All swimmers are required to wear a wetsuit and be at a competent level of open water swimming.

Spectating

The Lyme Regis to Charmouth Challenge is a great excuse to get out, enjoy the sea breeze and coastal walks. Places to cheer on the swimmers include the Marine Parade, the area around the Marine Theatre. Don't forget your binoculars! If you're waiting for the swimmers to return, there's plenty of things to do in Lyme Regis while you're waiting. Take the opportunity to look around the unique shops, cafes and restaurants. If the weather is fine, simply relax on the beach and take in the seaside charm. If you're looking for things to do in Charmouth near the race finish, we recommend a visit to the heritage Coast Centre.

Volunteering

The event is hosted by Lyme Splash, who also organise the Lyme Splash Water Polo Championship annual event. Lyme Splash are a non-profit organisation who rely on volunteers to make both events happen. The organisation welcomes new volunteers, if you're interested in finding out more visit the Lyme Splash website.

Presentation

Local companies kindly donate prizes for an event raffle which has a small cost to enter. The raffle is drawn after the event at the Lyme Regis checkin tent. The presentation also includes awards for the fastest, oldest, youngest and the longest in the water. A Lyme Splash Medal is presented to all entrants who complete the swim.
