Palmers Brewery Tour

A Tour Rich in History and Craftsmanship

Palmers Brewery is one of the UK's oldest family-owned breweries, with roots stretching back to 1794. The brewery’s picturesque stone buildings, nestled along the River Brit, create the perfect backdrop for a romantic day out. As you and your partner tour the brewery, you'll discover the fascinating process of brewing Palmers’ renowned ales—from the selection of premium ingredients to the time-honoured techniques still used today.

For history lovers and beer enthusiasts alike, Palmers Brewery offers the chance to explore authentic brewing equipment, much of which has been preserved for generations. Guided tours take you behind the scenes, where you can see their iconic copper vats and oak casks, all while learning about the intricate brewing methods that produce some of Dorset’s finest ales.

Planning a short break? Stay at one of our cosy apartments or luxury lodges, perfect for couples looking to unwind after a day of discovery.

Taste the Tradition

No brewery tour would be complete without a tasting session, and Palmers ensures you experience the flavours that have made them famous. After your tour, relax together and sample a selection of their handcrafted ales, from the smooth Palmers IPA to the malty Dorset Gold. It’s the perfect moment to unwind and enjoy a drink brewed just metres away from where you stand.

For couples looking for a shared experience, these tastings are a great way to discover new flavours and create lasting memories, especially for those who appreciate local craftsmanship. And if you find a favourite, the brewery shop has plenty of bottles available to take home, so you can continue enjoying the taste of Dorset long after your visit.

Exploring Bridport Together

After your brewery visit, take some time to explore the charming town of Bridport, known for its arts, crafts, and local eateries. Couples can enjoy a romantic lunch or an afternoon wander through its independent shops, savour local produce at a cosy café, or take a romantic stroll through the surrounding countryside. Bridport’s vibrant streets and rich culture make it a perfect stop for couples looking for a leisurely day of exploration and enjoyment.

For those who enjoy the outdoors, Bridport’s location is ideal for a scenic walk. Afterward, you can return to Newlands Holidays to enjoy our on-site facilities, including our indoor and outdoor pools and The Tow Bar and Restaurant, where you can grab a drink and unwind.

A Romantic Escape to Dorset

Whether you're enjoying a beer tasting at Palmers Brewery or exploring the coastal towns nearby, there’s plenty to do during your stay. Why not combine your brewery tour with a romantic break at Newlands Holidays? With accommodation options tailored for couples, including our glamping pods, en-suite rooms, and private lodges, you’ll find everything you need for a memorable getaway.

'Excellent site with clean facilities, friendly staff!'

'Friendly staff, the staff in the shop was incredibly welcoming! Loved how we were escorted to our pitch and also offered help with putting the caravan on the pitch. Swimming pool was small but ideal, good sauna! Outdoor pool was lovely also! Facilities were spotless considering we had awful weather they work extremely hard! Very clean site, great value for money!'

"Definitely will be back"

Good location with Charmouth beach and lyme regis near. Nice facilities on site and nice rooms. The tow bar restaurant is a gem with great food. Liked the activities on our stay like bingo. Overall a good stay and would love to come back again.

"Everything we needed"

Very tidy site, well laid out and well equipped. Towbar restaurant offered a good selection of quality food at all meal times, very good value for money and super friendly service. There is a small shop on site for all your essentials with access to another slightly larger shop in the village. Two pools and children’s play areas plus a gaming room were a real bonus. Shower and toilet blocks were cleaned regularly and always kept in good order. Location is fantastic, especially for avid fossil hunters with Charmouth beach around 20 minutes easy walk away through the village.

"What a wonderful place"

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Newlands. We stayed in the studio apartment block down the end (A17). The apartment was incredibly clean, spacious and had everything we needed for a short stay. My twin sons (3.5 years old) had the twin room, mum had the double bed, and I stayed on a blow up mattress that I brought with. We were very comfy.
