Easter falls between Good Friday 25 March to Easter Monday 29 March.

Easter is a busy time here in Dorset.  It's a great time to visit.  As usual there is lots to do to keep families busy.  Here is our 2016 list;

National Trust has a terrific new website and is filled with activities for Easter. Here is a selection of a few of our favourites

National Trust Kingston Lacy

One of the UK’s oldest ruined Castle, sitting high above the town of Corfe. Regular events keeps this iconic castle current in the minds of youngsters.

National Trust Brownsea Island


Arguably the home of scouting in the UK. Discover red squirrels, wildlife and flooded woodland, lakes.

Easter trail at Hengistbury Head


Hengistbury Head is a dramatic headland in Bournemouth near Christchurch Harbour. An outstanding site for wildlife, archaeology and long sweeping beaches.

The Great Easter Dinosaur Egg Hunt


Real fossils, dinosaur skeletons, and life-size dinosaur reconstructions combine with hands on displays to excite, enthrall, and entertain the visitor.

Abbostbury Subtropical Gardens Giant Egg Hunt


Initailly a kitchen garden this 30 acre garden is now filled with rare and exotic plants from all over the world. Abbotsbury Swannry and Activity Barn also work a visit.

Easter in Charmouth Fossils Hunting


Popular all the year round. You can easily while-away several hours hunting for fossils on Charmouth Beach. Guided tours are available but not necessary.

Swanage Spring Steam Gala 2016


Our award-winning standard gauge preserved steam railway is located in Dorset with easy access from neighbouring Hampshire and the South of England. Visitors can experience a unique journey through six miles of beautiful scenery passing the magnificent ruins of Corfe Castle, travelling down to the blue flag beach at Swanage.

This is for the Dads. If you have older children and would like to learn about the art of Brewing ale we recommend a visit to Palmers Brewery. At the end of the tour you get to sample some Ales.
