My top 3 picnic Spots in Dorset

01 June 2017

Did someone say Picnic? Dorset and some very dramatic scenery .

I love a good picnic – if the weather is right, for me, nothing beats eating outside in the fresh air – taking in the wonderful scenery.

And our favourite county of Dorset is choc-full of superb locations to enjoy a sandwich with the children. Here is a list of our favourite location for a summer of alfresco eating.

Golden Cap

Top of the list has to be Golden Cap. There is no higher a spot along the Dorset coast. On a clear day you can see for miles along the Jurassic coast. And whether you are walking from Charmouth or Seaton you will have burned off a few calories en-route.

Lyme Regis

Anywhere in Lyme Regis is perfect for eating outdoors. Whether it’s a sea wall, or a park or the beach itself, pitching up with the family and watching the world go by or dipping you big toes into the sea whilst munching on a savoury egg is just delightful.

Corfe Castle

I have personally eaten many a cheese sandwich in the grounds of Corfe Castle.

This once majestic castle sits atop of the natural hill guarding the principal route through the Purbeck Hills.
There is nearly always some activities running during the school holidays whether it’s visiting the local miniature village or spotting the Steam Trains passing on it route into Swanage.
