Hi folks, hope you’re all having a great summer so far. We’ve certainly had a fab few months here, with lots of exciting
things going on in and around Dorset. Obviously, it was great to have the heatwave in June and July – so many scorching hot days to enjoy – and once again Lyme Regis had a packed line-up of events to keep us and our guests entertained over the summer. Best of all, there’s plenty more still to come!
Here are a few of our highlights from the summer so far:
Beer Festival
We were really excited to put on our first ever beer festival this year. We’ve long been aware that Dorset has so many brilliant locally-brewed ales and ciders, so it was a real pleasure to be able to showcase them over a weekend, accompanied by some wonderful live music from the Lyme Regis Shanty Singers and local jazz band Saxation.
It was a great success and we all really enjoyed the weekend – we had sun, barbecue, live music and most importantly of all beer and cider – what more could you want?
Giant Dragon Skull on Lyme Regis Beach
Visitors to Lyme Regis beach are used to finding fossils and remains from prehistoric creatures in amongst the rocks and pebbles, but we have to admit even we were surprised to see a giant 40ft dragon skull sitting on the beach one day last month.
Of course, it wasn’t any normal fossil, in fact it was placed there by online tv service Blinkbox, to promote the new series of hit series Game of Thrones.
Before long, Dino Dan was down on the beach visiting his relative and comparing jaw sizes!
Aerial Video of the Park
We were really lucky this year to have the crew from No Bounds Aerial Photography and Film staying with us at the park.
They were in Dorset to film a promotional video for the Lyme Regis Guitars on the Beach event (the world record attempt for the world’s biggest guitar band), taking place in September. While they were here, they kindly sent their mini helicopter up and shot some footage of our park from the air, and the results are fantastic – shows off the park in a whole different light!
