Corfe Castle

The Majestic Castle

Standing proudly on a hilltop, Corfe Castle has a history spanning over 1,000 years. Originally built by William the Conqueror, the castle played a significant role in England’s turbulent medieval period. Today, it is managed by the National Trust and invites visitors to explore its dramatic ruins, learn about its storied past, and enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.

Families will enjoy exploring hidden nooks and climbing the walls, while couples can soak in the romantic atmosphere of this historic site. Seasonal events, re-enactments, and trails add to the fun, making it an engaging day out for all ages.

The Quaint Village

At the foot of the castle lies Corfe Castle Village, a charming spot with stone cottages, independent shops, and cosy tea rooms. Wander through the streets to discover local craft stores, sample delicious homemade treats, or simply relax in one of the welcoming cafes with views of the castle ruins.

The Swanage Railway

For a truly unique experience, hop aboard the Swanage Railway. This heritage steam railway runs from Norden to Swanage, with a stop at Corfe Castle. The train journey is a delight in itself, offering scenic views of the Purbeck countryside and a nostalgic experience for all ages.

Scenic Walks Around Corfe Castle

Corfe Castle is surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, making it a perfect destination for walkers. The Purbeck Hills offer scenic trails, including routes that connect with the famous South West Coast Path. Whether you’re after a leisurely stroll or a more challenging hike, the stunning countryside will not disappoint.

Picnic Spots and Local Dining

Pack a picnic to enjoy on the castle grounds or head to one of the village’s charming pubs or restaurants. The Fox Inn and the Castle Inn are popular choices, offering hearty meals and warm atmospheres. For a lighter bite, the local tearooms are perfect for a traditional Dorset cream tea.

Stay with Us at Newlands Holiday Park

'Excellent site with clean facilities, friendly staff!'

'Friendly staff, the staff in the shop was incredibly welcoming! Loved how we were escorted to our pitch and also offered help with putting the caravan on the pitch. Swimming pool was small but ideal, good sauna! Outdoor pool was lovely also! Facilities were spotless considering we had awful weather they work extremely hard! Very clean site, great value for money!'

"Definitely will be back"

Good location with Charmouth beach and lyme regis near. Nice facilities on site and nice rooms. The tow bar restaurant is a gem with great food. Liked the activities on our stay like bingo. Overall a good stay and would love to come back again.

"Everything we needed"

Very tidy site, well laid out and well equipped. Towbar restaurant offered a good selection of quality food at all meal times, very good value for money and super friendly service. There is a small shop on site for all your essentials with access to another slightly larger shop in the village. Two pools and children’s play areas plus a gaming room were a real bonus. Shower and toilet blocks were cleaned regularly and always kept in good order. Location is fantastic, especially for avid fossil hunters with Charmouth beach around 20 minutes easy walk away through the village.

"What a wonderful place"

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Newlands. We stayed in the studio apartment block down the end (A17). The apartment was incredibly clean, spacious and had everything we needed for a short stay. My twin sons (3.5 years old) had the twin room, mum had the double bed, and I stayed on a blow up mattress that I brought with. We were very comfy.
