Easter Events in West Dorset 2022

Spring is fast approaching and there's a great selection of West Dorset Easter events to look forward to in 2022. It's time to start planning dates for the diary with a host of not-to-be-missed Easter activities coming up near our Charmouth holiday park. Highlights include the legendary Lyme Regis Duck Race and Easter Bonnet Parade. As well as our usual activities for all the family to celebrate Easter right here at Newlands. Which means the first part of the season is sure to be full of fun in 2022 – so why not get in early and book an Easter break this year!

Lyme Regis Easter Bonnet Parade

Sunday 17th April at 14:00

Lyme Regis’s famous Easter Bonnet Parade is taking place again this year. The annual celebration encourages headwear creations of all kinds for the colourful spectacle. From subtle designs to the more extravagant Easter bonnets, participants will brighten up the seaside town on Sunday 17th April 2022.

The much-loved event is open to all ages with a range of prizes given to the most eye-catching bonnets. Utilise your craft skills for the big showcase on Easter Sunday at 2pm. The parade commences at the Lyme Regis Baptist Church for 2pm with an appearance from the Mayor and Majorettes. Follow the route as it passes Broad Street, Cobb Gate, Cart Road with its final stretch from Marine Parade to the Jubilee Pavilion

If you'd like to take part in the parade, all you need to do is turn up on the day with your creation. Spectators are reminded to have some coins ready for the collection buckets. Donations to local causes and charities are gratefully appreciated.

Easter Monday Duck Race

Monday 18th April at 12:00

The Easter fun continues on Easter Monday in Lyme Regis with the annual Duck Race. At midday spectators gather to watch hundreds of bight yellow toy ducks being placed into the river Lim for the race to the finish line at Jordan Flats.

The race is officially opened by Lyme Regis town crier Alan Vian next to Higher Mill Flats at Windsor Terrace. A tempting host of cash prizes are on offer for the highest placed ducks, not forgetting a bonus prize for the last duck over the line.

Ducks cost £1 and can be purchased on the day from 11.15am or online. 1st place wins finish wins £50, 2nd £25, 3rd £10 and the last duck home £5. All proceeds from the race are donated to Lyme Regis Christmas Lights 2022 fund. Not to be missed!

Easter egg hunt at Pecorama

Friday 15th and Saturday 16th April at 10am - 4pm.

Pecorama is an outstanding visitor attraction within a half an hour drive from Newlands. Why not pay a visit with the family over Easter and treat the kids to an Easter Egg hunt. Clues will be set around the egg hunt to discover a series of letters hidden around the site at Pecorama. Once you have completed the word you can claim your prize! Fancy Dress is welcome and is rewarded with a small gift.

Easter Market at Axminster Guildhall

Sunday 10th April, 11:00 - 15:00

Browse over 30 stalls at the Indoor Easter Market taking place at Axminster Guildhall. A delightful venue in the heart of Axminster, pick up some unusual items that make the perfect Easter gifts.

Charmouth Fossil walks

Spring is a great time to explore the nearby beach at Charmouth. Following the storms and winter months chances are good that will make a discovery. Guided fossil walks are run by Charmouth Heritage Centre and are a great way to go in search of finding a fossil from the Jurassic Coast to have as a keepsake.

Easter fun at Newlands

As always our friendly team will be providing Easter-themed activities onsite at our holiday park. This year we will a have...

Easter clue hunt on-site with Peter Rabbit and Friends (follow the nature trail to collect the letters to spell an Easter message) – claim your chocolate treat prize if correct.

Easter scavenger hunt – collect the Easter themed items found in reception during your holiday to receive a special prize!

Easter Sunday Ticket hunt – bring 2 matching Peter Rabbit tickets to reception, which can be found all around the park and receive a chocolate treat.

Entertainment with Chris Davis – an all-round entertainer at Newlands on the evening of Saturday 16th April 2022.

Paintbox Pixie Face Painting – also on the evening of Saturday 16th April 2022.

'Friendly staff, the staff in the shop was incredibly welcoming! Loved how we were escorted to our pitch and also offered help with putting the caravan on the pitch. Swimming pool was small but ideal, good sauna! Outdoor pool was lovely also! Facilities were spotless considering we had awful weather they work extremely hard! Very clean site, great value for money!'

Good location with Charmouth beach and lyme regis near. Nice facilities on site and nice rooms. The tow bar restaurant is a gem with great food. Liked the activities on our stay like bingo. Overall a good stay and would love to come back again.
 

"Everything we needed"

Very tidy site, well laid out and well equipped. Towbar restaurant offered a good selection of quality food at all meal times, very good value for money and super friendly service. There is a small shop on site for all your essentials with access to another slightly larger shop in the village. Two pools and children’s play areas plus a gaming room were a real bonus. Shower and toilet blocks were cleaned regularly and always kept in good order. Location is fantastic, especially for avid fossil hunters with Charmouth beach around 20 minutes easy walk away through the village.
 

"What a wonderful place"

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Newlands. We stayed in the studio apartment block down the end (A17). The apartment was incredibly clean, spacious and had everything we needed for a short stay. My twin sons (3.5 years old) had the twin room, mum had the double bed, and I stayed on a blow up mattress that I brought with. We were very comfy.
