Food Rocks Festival

7th - 8th September 2019

food rocks festival the annual event at lyme regis marine parade

Food Rocks Festival was founded by Mark Hix in 2012 as a celebration of the finest local produce from Lyme Regis and surrounding area. Expect a feast of live cookery demonstrations and talks from top local chefs and food producers. The two-day food and drink extravaganza is just a short journey from our Charmouth holiday park. The festival boasts a jam-packed programme of events and is free to attend for all the family.

The main stage

The festival main stage is hosted by the award-winning author Steven Lamb. A name synonymous with River Cottage, Steven has been central to the West Dorset based cookery school for over ten years.

Food and drink stalls

There will be approximately 50 stalls showcasing local food and drink as well as homeware and activities. Download the Food Rocks Festival programme for the full list of traders attending the event.

Festival highlights

Kicking off the festival on Friday 6th September, Mark Hix will be hosting the Glenarm Estate Beef Feast – a 5 course meat feast with drink on arrival. On Saturday 7th September Mark Hix and Nigel Bloxham from Crab House Cafe will host the popular Crab and Mackeral Supper Club.

Live music and dance

Visitors to Food Rocks Festival can enjoy tunes from local music and enterprise charity B Sharp on the Saturday. Mr Baker's Dozen will be entertaining crowds with Morris dancing on both Saturday afternoon and Sunday lunchtime.

Charity event

Profit made at the festival is donated to RNLI and The Fisherman's Mission. Charitable donations to both organisations help to enable life saving rescues at sea and provide support for fisherman and their families.

Getting to Food Rocks Festival

The festival is located at Marine Parade and Cart Road in Lyme Regis, Dorset, DT7 3JF. A great day out, just over 4 miles from from Newlands Holiday Park.

'Excellent site with clean facilities, friendly staff!'

'Friendly staff, the staff in the shop was incredibly welcoming! Loved how we were escorted to our pitch and also offered help with putting the caravan on the pitch. Swimming pool was small but ideal, good sauna! Outdoor pool was lovely also! Facilities were spotless considering we had awful weather they work extremely hard! Very clean site, great value for money!'

"Definitely will be back"

Good location with Charmouth beach and lyme regis near. Nice facilities on site and nice rooms. The tow bar restaurant is a gem with great food. Liked the activities on our stay like bingo. Overall a good stay and would love to come back again.

"Everything we needed"

Very tidy site, well laid out and well equipped. Towbar restaurant offered a good selection of quality food at all meal times, very good value for money and super friendly service. There is a small shop on site for all your essentials with access to another slightly larger shop in the village. Two pools and children’s play areas plus a gaming room were a real bonus. Shower and toilet blocks were cleaned regularly and always kept in good order. Location is fantastic, especially for avid fossil hunters with Charmouth beach around 20 minutes easy walk away through the village.

"What a wonderful place"

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Newlands. We stayed in the studio apartment block down the end (A17). The apartment was incredibly clean, spacious and had everything we needed for a short stay. My twin sons (3.5 years old) had the twin room, mum had the double bed, and I stayed on a blow up mattress that I brought with. We were very comfy.
