Lyme Regis Folk Weekend 2021

Friday August 27th - Monday August 30th

Lyme Regis Folk Weekend 2021 is back this month for its eighth annual festival. Set to welcome a top selection of musical artists and performances to the seaside town, it promises to be a great celebration of the finest folk talent.

Taking place from Friday 27th August to Monday 30th August, the popular 4-day event will feature a programme of shows at the Marine Theatre. As well as free to watch performances along the Lyme Regis seafront. For folk music fans, the weekend is a firm date for the diary, just a short drive from our West Dorset Holiday Park.

The following performers will be gracing the stage at The Marine Theatre...

FRIDAY AUGUST 27 - THE GIGSPANNER BIG BAND

Lyme Regis Folk Festival 2021 kicks off with an exciting collaboration. Gigspanner began life as a trio - with former Steeleye Span fiddle player Peter Knight being joined by percussionist Sacha Trochet and guitarist Roger Flack. Since then the line-up has expanded and the Gigspanner Big Band was born. Including acclaimed multi-instrumental duo Edgelarks (Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin - winners of the BBC Folk Awards Best Duo) as well as Bellowhead co-founder  John Spiers. This top collaboration is not to be missed!

SATURDAY AUGUST 28 - FAY HIELD BAND

After a break from the live stage, Fay Hield returns with Sam Sweeney and Rob Harbron to tour her new album, Wrackline. Fay brings a unique and fresh twist to magical old stories with expert musicianship – sure to be a memorable night.

SUNDAY AUGUST 29 - NINEBARROW AND FRIENDS

Ninebarrow & Friends are a popular act at Lyme Regis Folk Weekend and will be back for the third time in 2021. Jon and Jay will be joined by Odette Michell, a brilliant singer-songwriter, guitarist and bouzouki player with a bold new take on the acoustic tradition and an unforgettable voice. Also appearing will be Christina Alden & Alex Patterson – the main songwriting force behind award-winning folk trio Alden Patterson and Dashwood.

MONDAY AUGUST 30 - MERRY HELL

What better way to round off a great weekend than with one of the best live acts on the folk circuit. Merry Hell are winners of both the Best Band and Best Live Band at the Folking.com awards. The band's high-engery style will create a foot-stomping finale to close the final night of the festival.

Lyme Regis Folk Weekend 2021

If you're travelling to Lyme Regis and just want to soak up some of the atmosphere, enjoy FREE music during the day on the Seafront Stage all weekend. A chance to see even more talented musicians, including Steve Dagleish, Mitchell and Vincent, The Magnificent AKs and many more.

Tickets for the shows are still available from the official website at www.lymefolk.com

'Excellent site with clean facilities, friendly staff!'

'Friendly staff, the staff in the shop was incredibly welcoming! Loved how we were escorted to our pitch and also offered help with putting the caravan on the pitch. Swimming pool was small but ideal, good sauna! Outdoor pool was lovely also! Facilities were spotless considering we had awful weather they work extremely hard! Very clean site, great value for money!'

"Definitely will be back"

Good location with Charmouth beach and lyme regis near. Nice facilities on site and nice rooms. The tow bar restaurant is a gem with great food. Liked the activities on our stay like bingo. Overall a good stay and would love to come back again.

"Everything we needed"

Very tidy site, well laid out and well equipped. Towbar restaurant offered a good selection of quality food at all meal times, very good value for money and super friendly service. There is a small shop on site for all your essentials with access to another slightly larger shop in the village. Two pools and children’s play areas plus a gaming room were a real bonus. Shower and toilet blocks were cleaned regularly and always kept in good order. Location is fantastic, especially for avid fossil hunters with Charmouth beach around 20 minutes easy walk away through the village.

"What a wonderful place"

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Newlands. We stayed in the studio apartment block down the end (A17). The apartment was incredibly clean, spacious and had everything we needed for a short stay. My twin sons (3.5 years old) had the twin room, mum had the double bed, and I stayed on a blow up mattress that I brought with. We were very comfy.
