Lyme Regis Regatta and Carnival

3rd – 11th August 2019

Lyme Regis regatta and carnival is set to return this August for another week of family fun. Taking place over the course of 9 jam packed days, this unmissable event promises more than 50 exciting activities, including a torchlight procession, open air cinema and family dog show.

Carnival week is the highlight of many visitor’s time in Dorset and sees families returning to our Charmouth holiday park year on year. Whether you choose to participate in all the frivolity or simply sit back, relax and watch proceedings from afar – this annual event has plenty on offer to keep the whole family entertained.

Fireworks

A spectacular firework display sets the week off with a bang and helps raise money in support of the RNLI. Taking place in the skies above Lyme Bay, this wonderful show is the perfect way to mark the start off the festivities and your holiday in West Dorset.

Open air cinema

Pack a blanket and your favourite snacks and head to Lister gardens this August for a unique outdoor cinema experience. Watch either Top Gun or Wallace and Gromit in beautiful gardens overlooking Lyme Bay.

Torchlight parade

Every year hundreds of people join a torchlight parade through Lyme Regis as part of the Regatta and Carnival celebrations. The parade starts at Lister gardens before proceeding to the beach, where a beacon is lit. The procession is led by the Mayor and Mayoress and is a fantastic spectacle for both participants and onlookers.

Carnival procession

Carnival week wouldn’t be the same without the procession, which takes place at 8pm on Saturday 10th August. Watch colourful floats, bands and majorettes as they walk through the town to cheers from the waiting crowd.

Family friendly activities

If you fancy a challenge or a bit of friendly competition, why not join in one of the beach games taking place throughout the week. From egg throwing competitions to a treasure hunt, you can win yourself a host of prizes!

For full details on all the events taking place during Lyme Regis Regatta and Carnival be sure to purchase a programme online or in one of the local convenience stores.

'Excellent site with clean facilities, friendly staff!'

'Friendly staff, the staff in the shop was incredibly welcoming! Loved how we were escorted to our pitch and also offered help with putting the caravan on the pitch. Swimming pool was small but ideal, good sauna! Outdoor pool was lovely also! Facilities were spotless considering we had awful weather they work extremely hard! Very clean site, great value for money!'

"Definitely will be back"

Good location with Charmouth beach and lyme regis near. Nice facilities on site and nice rooms. The tow bar restaurant is a gem with great food. Liked the activities on our stay like bingo. Overall a good stay and would love to come back again.

"Everything we needed"

Very tidy site, well laid out and well equipped. Towbar restaurant offered a good selection of quality food at all meal times, very good value for money and super friendly service. There is a small shop on site for all your essentials with access to another slightly larger shop in the village. Two pools and children’s play areas plus a gaming room were a real bonus. Shower and toilet blocks were cleaned regularly and always kept in good order. Location is fantastic, especially for avid fossil hunters with Charmouth beach around 20 minutes easy walk away through the village.

"What a wonderful place"

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Newlands. We stayed in the studio apartment block down the end (A17). The apartment was incredibly clean, spacious and had everything we needed for a short stay. My twin sons (3.5 years old) had the twin room, mum had the double bed, and I stayed on a blow up mattress that I brought with. We were very comfy.
