Lyme Regis Regatta and Carnival Week 2021

7th - 14th August 2021

Lyme Regis Regatta and Carnival returns this month for a packed week of seaside entertainment. Over fifty varied events are taking places, each one offering something for the whole family to enjoy.

Lyme Regis Regatta and carnival week

Highlights of the week include the stunning firework display, torchlight procession, duck race, and beach treasure hunt. As well as open air film screenings, beach sports and regatta. The event closes with a Grand Carnival Procession to finish the week in style.

The carnival is popular with guests at our nearby Charmouth holiday park for memorable days out during the summer holidays.

With the support of local sponsors who help fund the event, The Lyme Regis Regatta and Carnival raises many thousands of pounds for local good causes.

Lyme Regis gardens and beach

Here's a guide to some of the not to be missed activities at Lyme Regis Carnival 2021...

Fireworks display - 5th August, 10pm

The week kicks off with a spectacular firework display to light up the skies over Lyme Regis. The display is organised together with RNLI as a joint fundraising event. Its the perfect way to get the carnival week underway the sight and sounds of wonderful fireworks set against a beautiful coastal backdrop.

Torchlight parade - 7th August, 9pm

Another popular part of the regatta and carnival week is the torchlight parade. Starting at Langmoor Gardens, the procession made up 100's of participants heads through the streets towards the beach. On the seafront magnificent circle of light is formed before a giant beacon is lit. For torchbearers and those just watching, the parade is a great spectacle to be part of.

Candles down the river - 10th August, 9pm

One of the most charming events is the display of candles floating peacefully along the river. You can sponsor a candle with a special message and watch it drift gently down the river. Candle cards can be purchased from the carnival kiosk or from Jericho Bridge from 8pm on the evening of the event.

Duck Race - 12th August, 12 noon

The Duck Race is another iconic part of the events programme and great fun to get involved. For just £1 you can claim your duck, then watch hundreds of rubber ducks floating down the River Lim. The race starts at Higher Mill flats, Windsor Terrace, with the finishing line at Jordan Flats. As an extra incentive, there are some great cash prizes up for grabs for the winners!

Carnival Procession - 14th August, 8pm

See the streets of Lyme Regis come to life for the closing procession of the carnival week. The great annual spectacle brings colour, music and dance together for a grand finale that's not to be missed!

See the events section on the official Lyme Regis Regatta and Carnival Week website for full details of the programme of what's on.

'Excellent site with clean facilities, friendly staff!'

'Friendly staff, the staff in the shop was incredibly welcoming! Loved how we were escorted to our pitch and also offered help with putting the caravan on the pitch. Swimming pool was small but ideal, good sauna! Outdoor pool was lovely also! Facilities were spotless considering we had awful weather they work extremely hard! Very clean site, great value for money!'

"Definitely will be back"

Good location with Charmouth beach and lyme regis near. Nice facilities on site and nice rooms. The tow bar restaurant is a gem with great food. Liked the activities on our stay like bingo. Overall a good stay and would love to come back again.

"Everything we needed"

Very tidy site, well laid out and well equipped. Towbar restaurant offered a good selection of quality food at all meal times, very good value for money and super friendly service. There is a small shop on site for all your essentials with access to another slightly larger shop in the village. Two pools and children’s play areas plus a gaming room were a real bonus. Shower and toilet blocks were cleaned regularly and always kept in good order. Location is fantastic, especially for avid fossil hunters with Charmouth beach around 20 minutes easy walk away through the village.

"What a wonderful place"

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Newlands. We stayed in the studio apartment block down the end (A17). The apartment was incredibly clean, spacious and had everything we needed for a short stay. My twin sons (3.5 years old) had the twin room, mum had the double bed, and I stayed on a blow up mattress that I brought with. We were very comfy.
