Lyme Splash Water Polo Sea Championship

3rd – 4th August 2019

The Lyme Splash Water Polo Sea Championship is due to take place this weekend. In the space of just a few years it has become established as the largest and only championship of its kind in the UK. Situated just a few miles from Newlands Holidays, the event provides a perfect excuse to pay a visit to nearby Lyme Regis. The matches take place near Victoria pier with good viewing points from The Cobb.

Lyme Splash runs over both days of the weekend with a presentation and BBQ at The Power Boat Club on Saturday evening. The event is run entirely by volunteers, who are passionate about the local area and coastline.

The Championship

The first games at Lyme Splash start at 8:15am on Saturday 3rd August and 8:45 on Sunday 4th August. The event coincides with the Lyme Regis Regatta and Carnival Week. The championship is competed by men's and women's teams in the over 16 years category on two floating water polo pitches. There could be as many as 18 teams from Dorset, Devon, Somerset, Hampshire and Wales expected to be competing in the event.

BBQ & Presentation

On Saturday evening players and spectators gather for a BBQ at Lyme Regis Power Boat Club on Monmouth Beach. A chance for all involved with the event to get together and enjoy the delicious local food. Tickets for the BBQ cost £15 for adults and £7.50 for children of 11 years & under. Advance booking is required if you are thinking of eating at the evening gathering.

Lyme Splash Raffle

There are fantastic prizes up for grabs in the raffle including a Lyme Bay Swimming voucher and a meal for two at The Pilot Boat.

'Excellent site with clean facilities, friendly staff!'

'Friendly staff, the staff in the shop was incredibly welcoming! Loved how we were escorted to our pitch and also offered help with putting the caravan on the pitch. Swimming pool was small but ideal, good sauna! Outdoor pool was lovely also! Facilities were spotless considering we had awful weather they work extremely hard! Very clean site, great value for money!'

"Definitely will be back"

Good location with Charmouth beach and lyme regis near. Nice facilities on site and nice rooms. The tow bar restaurant is a gem with great food. Liked the activities on our stay like bingo. Overall a good stay and would love to come back again.

"Everything we needed"

Very tidy site, well laid out and well equipped. Towbar restaurant offered a good selection of quality food at all meal times, very good value for money and super friendly service. There is a small shop on site for all your essentials with access to another slightly larger shop in the village. Two pools and children’s play areas plus a gaming room were a real bonus. Shower and toilet blocks were cleaned regularly and always kept in good order. Location is fantastic, especially for avid fossil hunters with Charmouth beach around 20 minutes easy walk away through the village.

"What a wonderful place"

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Newlands. We stayed in the studio apartment block down the end (A17). The apartment was incredibly clean, spacious and had everything we needed for a short stay. My twin sons (3.5 years old) had the twin room, mum had the double bed, and I stayed on a blow up mattress that I brought with. We were very comfy.
