The Melplash Show is back for another year and set to be bigger and better than ever before. This one day extravaganza takes place at West Bay Showground, a short drive from our holiday park near Bridport, and provides plenty of agricultural themed fun for all the family. Over the course of the day there will be a jam packed schedule of horse, livestock and horticulture competitions. As well as 400 trade stalls with numerous cookery demonstrations in the giant food hall.

Horses and livestock

The event contains a full schedule of competitions for horses, show jumping and heavy horses. In addition, there will be livestock classes for cattle, sheep, goats and pigs.

The Sheep Show

The Sheep Show contains no fewer than nine breeds of sheep taking to a live stage all of their own. A humorous runs theme throughout this attraction, and there's even a dancing sheep display!

Falconry Display

Don't miss Jonathan Marshall, the world renowned falconer who has built a strong reputation over the last 30 years. At The Melplash Show you can see his unique display that combines birds with Spanish horses.

Farming

Several farming marquees can be found at The Melplash show including the Dorset Young Farmers Marquee with sheep sheering demonstrations. The Discover Farming Marquee gives an introduction to food production with hands-on activities. Finally, The Explore Farming Marquee is dedicated to youngsters who are interested in starting a career in farming in the future.

Cookery

The Cookery Theatre hosts a day of demonstrations from food and drink experts. This year, the Bridport born celebrity chef Mark Hix will be talking about the recipes from his latest book. He'll be joined by numerous other skilled local chefs and drinks experts.

Public bar

The Melplash Inn is a fantastic pop-up pub hosted by Palmers Brewery of Bridport. A chance to sample the award winning and locally brewed range of delicious Palmers fine ales.

Trade stands

Over 400 trade stalls can be found at the show offering something for everyone. From locally produced delicacies to farming machinery, fencing and game rearing supplies, there's enough to keep the whole family entertained.

'Excellent site with clean facilities, friendly staff!'

'Friendly staff, the staff in the shop was incredibly welcoming! Loved how we were escorted to our pitch and also offered help with putting the caravan on the pitch. Swimming pool was small but ideal, good sauna! Outdoor pool was lovely also! Facilities were spotless considering we had awful weather they work extremely hard! Very clean site, great value for money!'

"Definitely will be back"

Good location with Charmouth beach and lyme regis near. Nice facilities on site and nice rooms. The tow bar restaurant is a gem with great food. Liked the activities on our stay like bingo. Overall a good stay and would love to come back again.

"Everything we needed"

Very tidy site, well laid out and well equipped. Towbar restaurant offered a good selection of quality food at all meal times, very good value for money and super friendly service. There is a small shop on site for all your essentials with access to another slightly larger shop in the village. Two pools and children’s play areas plus a gaming room were a real bonus. Shower and toilet blocks were cleaned regularly and always kept in good order. Location is fantastic, especially for avid fossil hunters with Charmouth beach around 20 minutes easy walk away through the village.

"What a wonderful place"

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Newlands. We stayed in the studio apartment block down the end (A17). The apartment was incredibly clean, spacious and had everything we needed for a short stay. My twin sons (3.5 years old) had the twin room, mum had the double bed, and I stayed on a blow up mattress that I brought with. We were very comfy.
