Seaton Tramway

A Scenic Journey for All Ages (and Dogs!)

Seaton Tramway’s historic, narrow-gauge trams run between Seaton, Colyford, and Colyton, following a scenic route through some of Devon’s most picturesque landscapes. Families and couples alike will love the novelty of open-top trams, and dogs are welcome aboard, making it easy to enjoy the day with your four-legged companions by your side. Kids can enjoy spotting wildlife along the estuary, from herons to otters, while couples take in the peaceful surroundings together.

Themed Tram Rides for Families and Couples

Seaton Tramway’s themed rides add extra magic to the experience, creating special memories for families and couples alike. During the festive season, the Polar Express Tram Ride is a must-do for families, bringing the classic story to life with music, characters, and enchanting lights. It’s a holiday adventure that kids will love, complete with a visit from Santa, hot chocolate, and a magical journey to the “North Pole.”

Throughout the year, Seaton Tramway also offers other exciting themed rides, like the Dinosaur Tram Adventure, where young explorers can hunt for fossils and hear dinosaur tales; the Pirate Tram for a high-seas adventure with pirate characters and treasure maps; and Storytelling Trams, where kids can sit back and listen to enchanting tales brought to life along the ride. These themed experiences add even more excitement to an already unforgettable day, making Seaton Tramway a fantastic choice for families with little adventurers.

For couples, the Valentine's Twilight Tram offers a romantic evening ride through the estuary at sunset, complete with soft lighting and a relaxed atmosphere. It’s a unique way to celebrate Valentine’s Day or simply enjoy a quiet, scenic evening together.

Family-Friendly Activities

Beyond the tram ride itself, Seaton Tramway has activities perfect for young explorers and their families. Children can participate in seasonal wildlife events, activity trails, and interactive nature days, combining fun with learning about the local ecosystem. The adventure continues at Colyton Station, with a play area, picnic spots, and even dog-friendly areas, ideal for relaxing after a scenic ride. Parents can unwind with a coffee from the café while the kids and dogs play nearby.

A Relaxing Day Out for Couples

Seaton Tramway is also a wonderful option for couples looking for a scenic and nostalgic experience. After a tranquil ride through beautiful landscapes, couples can stroll around the historic village of Colyton or enjoy refreshments at the station café. With themed options like the Valentine’s Twilight Tram, Seaton Tramway provides a charming and memorable outing on Devon’s stunning coastline.

Planning Your Visit

Whether you’re visiting as a family or a couple, Seaton Tramway offers a memorable experience that combines natural beauty with historic charm. After a day of exploring, unwind back at Newlands Holidays. Families can spread out in our modern caravans or self-catering apartments, while couples can retreat to our private en-suite rooms for a relaxing stay.

Make the most of your Jurassic Coast adventure with Newlands Holidays and let Seaton Tramway be a highlight of your coastal escape!

'Excellent site with clean facilities, friendly staff!'

'Friendly staff, the staff in the shop was incredibly welcoming! Loved how we were escorted to our pitch and also offered help with putting the caravan on the pitch. Swimming pool was small but ideal, good sauna! Outdoor pool was lovely also! Facilities were spotless considering we had awful weather they work extremely hard! Very clean site, great value for money!'

"Definitely will be back"

Good location with Charmouth beach and lyme regis near. Nice facilities on site and nice rooms. The tow bar restaurant is a gem with great food. Liked the activities on our stay like bingo. Overall a good stay and would love to come back again.

"Everything we needed"

Very tidy site, well laid out and well equipped. Towbar restaurant offered a good selection of quality food at all meal times, very good value for money and super friendly service. There is a small shop on site for all your essentials with access to another slightly larger shop in the village. Two pools and children’s play areas plus a gaming room were a real bonus. Shower and toilet blocks were cleaned regularly and always kept in good order. Location is fantastic, especially for avid fossil hunters with Charmouth beach around 20 minutes easy walk away through the village.

"What a wonderful place"

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Newlands. We stayed in the studio apartment block down the end (A17). The apartment was incredibly clean, spacious and had everything we needed for a short stay. My twin sons (3.5 years old) had the twin room, mum had the double bed, and I stayed on a blow up mattress that I brought with. We were very comfy.
